Overview

The Effective Start Date feature allows dispatchers to schedule a template change to take effect on a future date without affecting the current schedule. This ensures that existing schedules remain intact until the specified date, preventing unintended disruptions.

Accessing the Schedule Templates

There are three main tabs in the Schedule Templates section:

  1. All Templates – Manage templates by adding or deleting them. Note: Templates that are currently in use cannot be deleted.

  2. Days of the Week – Set templates for specific days, applying them immediately for all future occurrences of that day.

  3. Upcoming Schedule – Set an effective date for template changes to be applied at a future time.

How the Effective Date Works

  • When you assign a template change using the Upcoming Schedule tab, it will take effect on the next available instance of that selected day.

  • Any existing manual assignments (such as added crew, trucks, or dispatch slots) will be overwritten when the new template takes effect.

  • Once the scheduled date arrives, the system automatically applies the template and clears the Upcoming Schedule tab.

Setting a Template Release Date

To schedule a template for future release:

  1. Navigate to the Upcoming Schedule tab.

  2. Select the Effective Start Date (must be today or a future date; past dates are not applicable).

  3. Choose the template you want to apply.

  4. Click Apply to confirm the changes.

  5. The system will schedule the template update for the selected date.

Key Considerations:

  • The Effective Start Date can be modified after it has been set.

  • If manual modifications (such as crew or truck assignments) were made after setting the date, they will be removed when the template is applied.

  • Switching between tabs will trigger a confirmation prompt if unsaved changes exist.

Deleting a Scheduled Template Release

Reason for Deletion

Users may want to remove a scheduled template update before it takes effect to retain their current scheduling structure.

Process

  1. Go to the Upcoming Schedule tab.

  2. Ensure the Effective Start Date field is filled out.

  3. Click on the Effective Start Date field.

  4. Either:

    • Press Backspace to clear the numbers, or

    • Click on the ‘X’ icon on the right side of the field.

  5. A ‘Delete Scheduled Template’ confirmation modal appears.

  6. Click ‘Yes, Proceed’ to confirm.
