Overview
When you add a user in the User Management section, you are required to select their role within SmartMoving. Roles come with out-of-the-box permissions associated with them, although as an admin, you can modify those permissions, if you wish.
For example, take a look at the picture below and locate the Sales Person column. According to SmartMoving's built-in permissions associated with the role of Sales Person, they will only have access to the following modules in SmartMoving: Calendars, Customers, Sales, and Tasks.
However, if you have an employee in the Sales Person role but need them to also be able to access the Customer Service module, simply check that permission for them and click Save.
IMPORTANT: Granting access to the Customer Service module for one Sales Person will give access to all users with the Sales Person role. If that’s not your intention, you can create a custom role for specific employees.
To create a custom role:
Go to Manage Roles > Add Role
Enter a name for the new role
Click Save
Select the permissions you want this role to include
Assign the new role to the appropriate user(s)
Be intentional with permissions. Only grant access to those who need it to avoid confusion. Limit system Admins or users with Settings access to prevent unauthorized changes, which can lead to issues.
