How to create multi-day jobs with separate pack days, move days, etc.

A single opportunity can have multiple jobs. For example, a larger opportunity might have a packing job on the first day, a loading job the next day, driving for the third day, and unloading for the last day.

Adding multiple jobs to an opportunity allows you to schedule and dispatch each job individually, and you can use different crew members and/or trucks for each job, track their payroll separately, etc.

Adding multiple jobs to an opportunity

Navigate to the estimate page for a job.

First, click the plus button in the Jobs section and select the type of job.

Note: This will create a new line item that is a dispatchable event. A dispatchable event is a job that must be scheduled on the dispatch calendar so that it is assigned to crew members and/or a truck.

Next, click the date to select the time and day that the job will be completed.

Select the new service date by either clicking the date field to enter or select a specific day from the calendar...

...or click the left and right arrows to filter through dates by week.

Then, select the arrival window in the Availability section.

The availability section will also show you the daily base crew rates (as some days like weekends and holidays may have a higher price) for each day of the week as well as the percentage of jobs already booked for that day (to see how busy the day already is). This information is useful to determine which days have sufficient availability.

Next, click Apply.

Note: You can set different charges for the different jobs and days. The estimate on the opportunity changes based on the job highlighted in the Job section.

Modifying a job

You can click the menu for a specific job to duplicate, reset, or delete it.

  • Duplicate: If you’ll be doing the same job for multiple days, you can duplicate the job to copy over the same details and tweak them for a different day.

  • Reset: If a crew member unintentionally clocks into the wrong job on the mobile app and/or has a client provide a digital signature for the wrong client documents, you can reset the job up until the job is closed. This option will erase any clock ins/outs recorded on the job as well as any customer signatures on contracts or addendums.
Note: Resets do not remove customer signatures on estimates. To set restrictions on who can reset jobs, visit Settings -> Company Settings -> Roles & Permissions or click here to go directly to the page.

  • Delete - If a specific job is no longer needed or otherwise needs to be removed, click delete to remove it from the job list.

Creating a multi-day job

The dropoff option creates a multi-day job.

Dropoff dates should be used exclusively for long-distance jobs where the same crew and truck will be on the road for several days. Crew members and trucks listed on a job with a dropoff date will be locked into that job and will be unavailable for any additional jobs until the dropoff date is reached. For this reason, it is important to use this feature only for jobs that require the same crew and truck to be locked into a job for multiple days.

If you wish to create a multi-day job that does not lock in a crew or truck for all days, use the Duplicate menu option mentioned above to create a duplicate copy of the job for a different day.
