Overview

Smart Marketing allows you to send email campaigns to your affiliates once Affiliate Contact Sync is enabled. This feature syncs affiliate records into Smart Marketing so you can include them in one-time or automated campaigns.

Affiliate Contact Sync is disabled by default and must be manually enabled. Access depends on your SmartMoving plan and whether your account includes the Affiliates feature.

Before You Start

Before enabling Affiliate Contact Sync, confirm the following:

  • Your company is on the Growth plan, or on the Essentials plan with the Affiliates enabled.

  • Your account has access to Smart Marketing.

  • You understand that synced affiliates count toward your Smart Marketing billable contacts.

Note: If your account does not include the Affiliates feature, you will not be able to enable Affiliate Contact Sync.

How Affiliate Contact Sync Works

  • Affiliate Contact Sync is turned off by default for all accounts.

  • Once enabled, all affiliates with an email address are synced into Smart Marketing.

  • Synced affiliates count toward your Smart Marketing billing.

  • Affiliate contacts are updated automatically each night to reflect new, updated, or removed affiliates.

How to Enable Affiliate Contact Sync

  1. Navigate to Settings > Smart Marketing > Affiliate Contacts Sync.

  2. Toggle the setting on.

  3. Review the confirmation message explaining that contacts will begin syncing and will count toward billable contacts.

  4. Confirm to activate syncing.

Once enabled, affiliate contacts begin syncing automatically.

Creating Email Campaigns for Affiliates

After Affiliate Contact Sync is active, you can create campaigns specifically for affiliates.

Supported Campaign Types

Affiliate audiences are available for:

  • One-time campaigns

  • Automated campaigns

They are not available for Drip campaigns yet.

Creating an Affiliate Campaign

  1. Go to Smart Marketing.

  2. Create a new campaign (one-time or automated).

  3. When prompted to select recipients, choose Affiliates instead of Customers.

  4. Build your email content.

  5. Use merge tags such as Contact Name and brand merge tags as needed.

  6. Schedule the campaign.

💡 SmartTip: Automated campaigns are ideal for affiliate welcome emails that send automatically whenever a new affiliate is created.

Scheduling, Tracking, and Managing Affiliate Communication

Once an affiliate campaign is created, you can control when it sends, track engagement, and manage which affiliates receive communication.

Scheduling and Sending

  • Campaigns can be scheduled to start at any date and time.

  • Automated campaigns run on a daily schedule based on your configuration.

  • Once scheduled, the campaign is clearly labeled as an affiliate campaign.

Tracking and Reporting

For affiliate campaigns, Smart Marketing provides:

  • Recipient tracking

  • Open rates

  • Click-through rates

Note: Attribution and opportunity-based reporting are not available for affiliate campaigns.

Managing Affiliate Communication

  • Affiliates can be deactivated if they should no longer receive email communication.

  • Deactivated affiliates are excluded from future affiliate campaigns.

  • Active affiliates remain synced unless Affiliate Contact Sync is turned off.
