Overview
The Reputation Impact Map helps ORM subscribers understand how their local search rankings change over time, not just as a single snapshot.
With trend indicators and historical snapshots, you can:
See whether rankings improved or declined week over week.
Review past scan results.
Compare performance across service areas.
Identify patterns that impact local visibility.
This article explains how to access map history, interpret ranking trends, and use the expanded view effectively.
Before You Start
You must be an active Smart Reputation (ORM) subscriber.
Ranking history becomes available after multiple scans have been completed.
Trend indicators appear only on the most recent map.
How To View Ranking Trends
From the Dashboard (Small View)
Navigate to your main Dashboard.
Locate the Reputation Impact Map widget.
Select Check Weekly For Rank History to open the expanded view.
The small Dashboard view displays trend arrows using the same logic as the expanded map.
In the Expanded Reputation Impact Map
Open the Reputation Impact Map.
Review the ranking numbers displayed inside colored circles across the map.
Look for arrow indicators next to ranking numbers (latest snapshot only).
Each pin represents your ranking position in that specific grid location.
Understanding Ranking Colors
Each map point is color-coded based on ranking:
Green (1β3): Strong local visibility
Yellow (4β7): Moderate visibility
Red (8β20): Low Engagement (8β20)
Gray (+20): Unranked (+20)
Note:
A rank of +20 means your business did not rank in the top 20 results for that location.
π‘SmartTip: Check out the legend in the "i" tooltip to view full breakdown of ranking colors, including Unranked (+20) and Low Engagement (8β20).
Understanding Trend Indicators
Trend arrows appear on the latest map only and compare the current scan to the previous one.
Arrow Logic
Up arrow (β):
Ranking improved compared to the previous scan.
Down arrow (β):
Ranking declined compared to the previous scan.
Previously ranked, now unranked (+20).
No arrow:
Ranking is unchanged.
No previous report exists for comparison.
π‘SmartTip: Improvement means moving closer to rank #1. A change from 6 β 3 is an improvement. A change from 3 β 6 is a decline.
How To View Historical Snapshots
The expanded map allows you to review previous ranking scans.
Using the Snapshot Bar
Open the expanded Reputation Impact Map by clicking on "View Details".
Locate the vertical snapshot bar on the left.
Review thumbnails to see past scans at a glance.
Click any snapshot to load that historical data.
Navigating Snapshots
Up to 5 snapshots display at a time.
Use the top and bottom arrows to scroll if more are available.
If no additional snapshots exist in a direction, the arrow is disabled.
The LATEST button at the top jumps directly to the most recent scan and remains fixed while scrolling.
If limited historical data is available, a message appears prompting you to return later once more data has been collected.
Best Practices
Review trends weekly to track progress.
Focus on clusters of yellow, red, or gray points to identify service area gaps.
Monitor areas where rankings frequently shift, these may indicate competitive pressure.
Use improvements in green coverage as validation of reputation-building efforts.
π‘SmartTip: Consistent improvement across multiple grid points is a stronger indicator of local authority than a single high-ranking point.
Troubleshooting
Why donβt I see trend arrows?
Trend indicators only appear on the latest snapshot and require a previous scan for comparison.
Why are some points gray?
Gray points indicate Unranked (+20) β your business did not appear in the top 20 results for that grid location.
Why canβt I scroll further in snapshots?
If arrows are disabled, no additional historical data exists in that direction.
