Opportunities that have not been booked within a certain amount of time (determined by your company) prior to a customer's move date are considered "lost."
Opportunities can be lost for a number of reasons:
Failure to follow up with the customer to book
No response from the customer
Customer decides not to move or to use a different moving company
By marking an opportunity as lost, it is closed and tagged for later data review.
This way, the team can see how many opportunities are lost over time, spot patterns, and determine what can be done to make sure fewer opportunities become lost.
You can manually mark an opportunity as lost, or you can set up an automation so that the system automatically marks opportunities as lost once they are a specific number of days old without being booked.
Manually Marking Opportunities as Lost
First, go to Sales > My Leads and click the job number for the individual opportunity that needs to be marked as lost.
Next, on the sales tab Click the drop-down menu next to the smart action button and select Mark Lost.
Then, select a reason for why the opportunity was lost and click Mark Lost.
The opportunity is now closed and listed as lost.
Setting Up Lost Opportunity Automations
First, go to Settings > Sales > Common.
For the "Automatically mark opportunities as lost after move data passes" field, activate the toggle (to green) to enable the system to automatically mark lost opportunities.
In the "Days to wait" field, enter the number of days past the move date that opportunities should be automatically marked as lost.
For example, if you enter "30", the system will automatically mark any opportunity that is not booked within 30 days past the move date as lost. This will occur around 2 a.m. every night.
