Overview
Your Morning Briefing is a daily summary from TOB-E. It is delivered to your email each morning so you can see what is happening across your business before you log in to start your day.
A briefing covers:
Today's job count and schedule overview
Crew confirmation status, including who has not confirmed
Revenue for today and the week
Unpublished jobs that crews cannot yet see
Outstanding payments
Sales follow-ups
The weather forecast for the days ahead
Insights and commentary from TOB-E based on your data
When TOB-E spots something that needs attention, the briefing includes a link to the matching page in SmartMoving so you can act on it.
Why the Morning Briefing Matters
Most mornings, you are checking five different places to figure out what is about to go wrong. The Morning Briefing replaces that.
The biggest catch is unpublished jobs. When a job is not published, a crew shows up to nothing, or a customer waits for movers who do not know they are coming. TOB-E flags it in your briefing, with a direct link so you can fix it in seconds. The same goes for unconfirmed crews, outstanding payments, and overdue follow-ups.
Awareness is the bottleneck. Once you know the problem, you can fix it. The briefing makes sure you know.
Before You Start
Your briefing is generated from your SmartMoving data, so jobs, crews, payments, and follow-ups must be entered in SmartMoving to appear.
Your briefing is delivered to the email address listed in your TOB-E Morning Briefing settings. The default delivery time is 6:00 AM, and the time is configurable.
Your briefing is a snapshot. It shows your numbers as of the time it is generated, and it does not update after it arrives in your inbox.
The first time you open TOB-E, you are asked whether you want to receive the Morning Briefing. You can change this choice later in settings.
Configure your briefing
In SmartMoving, go to Settings → Company Settings → Morning Briefing.
Enable receiving the daily email, if not already on.
Set your preferred delivery time.
Set the style you want the briefing to have.
Add or remove recipient emails. Recipients receive the briefing email only and do not get access to the TOB-E chat.
Choose which sections appear in your briefing.
Send a test briefing email to the configured recipients using current data.
Click Save. Your next briefing reflects your changes.
Briefing Styles
You can choose how your briefing looks under Settings → Company Settings → Morning Briefing with the Email Style setting. All three styles include the same information and differ only in how the briefing is laid out.
Style | Feel |
Classic | A plain, straightforward layout with minimal styling. Sections are shown as simple text and lists. |
Editorial (default) | A magazine-style layout. The weather forecast appears as a large banner at the top, TOB-E's commentary is highlighted as a quote, and each section has a clean header. |
Dashboard | A metrics-focused layout. Key numbers appear as colored tiles, crew confirmations show as a progress bar, the weather uses icons, and each section sits in its own bordered card. |
How To Do It
Open today's briefing
Open your email inbox at or after 6:00 AM (or your configured delivery time).
Look for an email from [email protected] with the subject Morning Briefing - {date}.
Scroll to read each section.
Act on an unconfirmed crew alert
If TOB-E flags a crew that has not confirmed for an upcoming job, the briefing gives you a direct link.
Read the alert in the Crew Confirmation Status section.
Click the link in the alert. SmartMoving opens to the Crew Confirmation tab in the Dispatch module.
Resend the confirmation with one click from the Crew Confirmation tab.
Act on unconfirmed customer moves
If customers have not confirmed today's moves, the briefing shows an alert with the count, such as "3 unconfirmed customer moves today."
Read the alert in the briefing's attention items.
Click Send Reminders. SmartMoving opens to the Customer Confirmation tab in the Dispatch module for today's date.
Send the confirmation reminders from the Customer Confirmation tab.
When every customer has confirmed, the alert reads "0 unconfirmed customer moves today" with a View today's schedule link instead.
Note: Reminders are not sent from the briefing email itself. The Send Reminders link takes you to the Customer Confirmation tab, and you send the reminders there. You can also ask TOB-E in the chat to send or resend a customer confirmation for a job.
Note: Sending a reminder does not mark a job confirmed. A job leaves the unconfirmed count once the customer confirms the move, or once you mark it confirmed in the Customer Confirmation tab.
Note: If customer confirmations do not appear in your briefing, turn on the Customer Confirmations section in Settings → Company Settings → Morning Briefing.
Act on an unpublished job alert
An unpublished job is a job that is not yet visible to your crew. If a job is not published, the crew may not show up.
Read the alert in the Attention Items section at the bottom of the briefing.
Click the link. SmartMoving opens to Dispatch → Scheduling.
Review the job, then publish it from the scheduling page. The crew sees the job in their mobile app.
Act on an outstanding payment
Read the alert in the Outstanding Payments section.
Click the link to open the matching invoice or job in SmartMoving.
Take the next step from there: send a reminder, log a payment, or follow up with the customer.
Act on a sales follow-up
Read the alert in the Sales Follow-Ups section.
Click the link to open the lead or opportunity in SmartMoving.
Make the follow-up call, send the email, or update the record.
Why Your Briefing and SmartMoving Show Different Numbers
Your briefing captures your numbers at the moment it is generated and emailed to you. SmartMoving shows you the current state of your account.
The two move apart as the day goes on:
New leads, jobs, and messages arrive after the briefing is generated.
Crews and customers confirm.
Payments post.
Team members work through the same items the briefing flagged.
A difference between the email and your screen means activity happened after the briefing was generated. Both numbers are accurate for their point in time.
To see current numbers:
Ask TOB-E in the chat. Chat answers reflect your current data.
Open the linked page in SmartMoving.
To narrow the gap, set your delivery time closer to when you start your day in Settings → Company Settings → Morning Briefing.
Best Practices
Open the briefing email first thing each morning. Most of what you would have looked up is already there.
Act on attention items the same morning. An unpublished job caught when your briefing arrives is fixable. The same job caught after the crew is already late is not.
Use the links in the briefing instead of searching SmartMoving for the right page. They drop you exactly where you need to be.
If a number does not match SmartMoving, check the timing first. Your briefing reflects the moment it was generated.
If a section feels noisy, or a number is still off after that, send thumbs down feedback in the chat so the product team can tune it.
Troubleshooting
The briefing email did not arrive. Check your spam folder first. If it is not there, go to Settings → Company Settings → Morning Briefing and confirm your email is listed under recipient emails. If your email is listed and the briefing still does not arrive, contact SmartMoving Support.
A section is empty. TOB-E only shows data that exists in SmartMoving. If no jobs are scheduled today, the schedule section will say so.
A number does not match what you see in SmartMoving. Your briefing shows your numbers as of the time it was generated, and SmartMoving shows current data. Anything that changed after the briefing was sent does not appear in the email. See Why Your Briefing and SmartMoving Show Different Numbers above.
A number still looks wrong after accounting for timing. Ask TOB-E in the chat for the details behind the number, or open the matching report in SmartMoving.
You log in regularly but do not get a briefing. TOB-E access is turned on per user. Ask an admin to turn on TOB-E for you in Settings → Company Settings → User Management, then opt into the Morning Briefing when TOB-E asks, or have an admin add your email under recipient emails in Settings → Company Settings → Morning Briefing.
