Overview
Add trucks to your fleet, keep their details up to date, and take a truck out of service for a single day, a date range, or indefinitely.
Available on all plans. Requires admin role.
Before You Start
Your fleet is managed in Settings > Dispatch > Fleet.
The attribute checkboxes shown when adding or editing a truck are managed in Settings > Dispatch > Truck and Crew Tags.
There are three ways to make a truck unavailable: mark it out of service for one day from Dispatch, add an out-of-service date range on the truck's calendar, or set an End of Service Date to retire it.
How To Add a Truck
Go to Settings > Dispatch > Fleet.
Click Add Truck.
Enter the Truck Name.
Select the truck's Branch.
Enter the truck's Capacity in cubic feet.
Enter the truck's Length in feet.
Check any attributes that apply to the truck.
Click Create. To add several trucks in a row, click Create and Add Another instead.
The truck appears in the Fleet list with an Active status and is available to assign in Dispatch.
How To Add a Rental Truck from Dispatch
Add a rental truck directly from the dispatch schedule when you need extra capacity, and set its return date at the same time.
Go to Dispatch and open the schedule for the service date.
Select the Trucks tab in the resources panel.
Click Add Rental Truck at the bottom of the panel.
Enter the Truck Name.
Enter the truck's Capacity in cubic feet.
Enter the truck's Length in feet.
Select an End of Service Date, such as the rental's return date.
Check any attributes that apply, then click Add Truck.
A confirmation message appears and the truck is immediately available to assign in Dispatch. The truck is added to the branch you are viewing and appears in Settings > Dispatch > Fleet like any other truck.
Note: The Add Rental Truck button is unavailable while viewing all branches. Switch Dispatch to a specific branch first.
š” SmartTip: Set the End of Service Date to the rental's return date so the truck automatically stops counting as an available resource when it goes back.
How To Edit a Truck
Go to Settings > Dispatch > Fleet.
Click the menu icon on the truck's row.
Click Edit.
Update the truck's details.
Click Update.
Your changes are saved and appear in the Fleet list immediately.
How To Mark a Truck Out of Service Indefinitely
Set an End of Service Date when a truck is leaving your fleet or going out of service with no return date.
Go to Settings > Dispatch > Fleet.
Click the menu icon on the truck's row, then click Edit.
Select an End of Service Date, or click Mark out of service indefinitely to end service today.
Click Update.
Once the End of Service Date is reached, the truck's status changes to Inactive and it is no longer counted as an available truck in Dispatch.
Note: The Fleet list shows Active trucks by default. To find a truck you marked out of service, set the Status filter to Inactive.
To return an inactive truck to service, edit the truck, click Remove end of service date, and click Update.
How To Take a Truck Out of Service for Specific Dates
Use the truck's calendar for temporary downtime, such as maintenance or repairs.
Go to Settings > Dispatch > Fleet.
Click the menu icon on the truck's row.
Click Calendar.
Enter a Reason, such as "Brake repair".
Select the Start Date and End Date.
Click Add Event.
Click Save.
The truck appears crossed out in the Dispatch resource list on those dates and is not counted as available.
To remove an event, open the truck's Calendar, click the X next to the event, and click Save.
How To Mark a Truck Out of Service from Dispatch
Mark a truck out of service for a single day directly from the dispatch schedule.
Go to Dispatch and open the schedule for the service date.
Select the Trucks tab in the resources panel.
Click the menu icon next to the truck.
Click Mark truck out of service.
The truck appears crossed out for that date only and is not counted as available. To return it to service, click Mark truck in service in the same menu.
How To Delete a Truck
Go to Settings > Dispatch > Fleet.
Click the menu icon on the truck's row.
Click Delete.
Confirm the deletion in the Delete [truck name]? window.
The truck is permanently removed from your fleet.
Note: Deleting a truck cannot be undone. To keep the truck's record while making it unavailable, set an End of Service Date instead.
