Choosing Which Fields Appear on Dispatch Job Cards

Choose which fields appear on Dispatch Scheduling job cards, such as move size, zip codes and handicaps, with a separate set for Local, Intrastate and Interstate jobs.

Written by Michelle Carone

Overview

The Job Card Display settings let dispatchers read what they need from a job card in Dispatch Scheduling without opening each job.

  • Choose the fields once for each opportunity type, so Local, Intrastate and Interstate jobs can show different details.

  • Add details the standard card doesn't show, such as origin and destination zip codes, total estimated time and handicap icons.

  • Job cards keep their standard layout until your company turns on Customize Job Cards.

Before You Start

  • Changing these settings requires the Settings or Dispatch permission.

  • The settings apply to your whole company. Every dispatcher sees the same fields on job cards.

Choose the Fields on Job Cards

  1. Go to Settings > Dispatch > Common.

  2. In the Job Card Display section, turn on Customize Job Cards. A table appears with a row for each field and a column for Local, Intrastate and Interstate.

  3. Select the checkbox for each field you want on that type of job card. Clear a checkbox to take the field off.

  4. Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page. To discard your edits instead, click Revert.

  5. Open Dispatch > Scheduling. Each job card shows the fields you selected for that job's opportunity type.

What Each Field Shows

  • Move size: the move size on the job.

  • Volume/weight: the job's volume in cubic feet and weight in pounds.

  • City to city: the origin and destination cities, each with its state abbreviation.

  • Origin zip and Destination zip: the zip code beside each city.

  • Crew/truck/arrival: the number of trucks, the number of crew members and the arrival time.

  • Total estimated time: the job's total estimated hours.

  • Handicaps: an icon for each handicap recorded on the job's stops.

Key Details

  • The job number, customer name and confirmation indicator always show. You can't turn them off.

  • The first time you turn on Customize Job Cards, Move size, City to city and Crew/truck/arrival are selected for all three opportunity types, which matches the standard card.

  • If your company already uses Customize Job Cards, your saved fields stay as they are.

  • The settings apply to job cards on the Dispatch Scheduling board and on the Unscheduled and Cancelled tabs. Other views don't change.

  • Fields are grouped on the card: move size with volume and weight, then the route, then trucks, crew, arrival, estimated time and handicaps. A group's line appears only when one of its fields is on.

  • Handicaps shows up to three icons. When a job has more, a chip shows how many more, such as +2. Point at the chip to see their names.

  • Handicap icons cover stairs, elevators and long carries, plus any handicaps your company adds in Settings > Tariffs > Handicaps. A handicap on more than one stop shows one icon.

  • Turning on a zip code without City to city shows the zip code on its own. A job with no destination zip code shows the destination city on its own.

Best Practices

  • Pick the smallest set of fields your dispatchers use to schedule, so each card stays readable at a glance.

  • Turn on zip codes for the opportunity types where travel distance drives scheduling.

  • Turn on Handicaps where access affects how long a job runs, so dispatchers see stairs, elevators and long carries before assigning crew.

  • Check the board after saving to make sure the cards read well at the width your team works in.

Troubleshooting

  • I can't find the job card settings.

    • Go to Settings > Dispatch > Common and scroll to the Job Card Display section. Changing them requires the Settings or Dispatch permission.

  • Job cards look the same after I turned on Customize Job Cards.

    • Click Save Changes, then reload Dispatch Scheduling.

  • Handicaps is selected, but no icons show.

    • Icons show only when the job's stops have handicaps recorded. Open the job and check the stops.

  • A job card shows the wrong fields.

    • Fields follow the job's opportunity type. Check the job's type, then check that column in Job Card Display.

  • A zip code is missing from a card.

    • The zip code shows only when it's on that stop's address. Open the job and check the address.
