When creating a new opportunity, SmartMoving has a preset list of services you can select from (such as moving, packing, storage inbound, and more), but you can also configure custom service types.

Configuring Custom Service Types

Navigate to Settings -> Estimate Lists -> Service Types (or click here to go directly to the page).

Enable or Disable Service Types

To enable a service type, ensure the checkbox is checked.

To disable a service type, deselect the checkbox beside the service type. Service types cannot be deleted but disabling it will prevent the service type from appearing in your list of services.

Note: The first three service types (i.e., moving, packing, and moving and packing) cannot be disabled.

Add Custom Service Types

You can add up to 20 custom service types.

To add a new service type,

  1. Find an available row and enter a name for the service type.

  2. Enter the scaling factor (Version 2 only). This is the percentage of estimated time that will populate for this service type. The percentage of time is based on the estimated time calculated by the auto pricing engine.

  3. Select a color. This color appears in Dispatch and in some Job, Calendar screens to help you identify jobs by their service type at a quick glance. The colors also match Google Calendar, so the colors remain accurate if you sync your job calendar with your Google Calendar.

Changes are saved automatically but be sure to enable the service type by clicking the checkmark.

Rename a Custom Service Type

To rename a custom service type, first enable the service type, then enter a new name for it. Changes are saved automatically.

Note: SmartMoving preset service types cannot be renamed.

Set Activities

Activities allow your crew foreman to update the status of jobs in progress from the crew mobile app. The app offers En Route, Arrived, and Completed as standard activities. But it might be helpful to also include activities such as Loading, Finished Loading, and Unloading for some services.

To include these additional activities for a custom service type, click Set Activities and select any applicable activities (if any).

Note: If activities are applicable but are not selected, it may impact your team's ability to update the dispatch status of the service. Also, if you are using Double-Drive Time this will affect the Crew Applications calculation of the Double Drive Time.

Reorder Service Types

Drag and drop the service types to change the order they appear in the service type menu, by selecting the handlebar icon.
