If you're already using classes in QuickBooks to filter and organize items, you can link those classes to SmartMoving.

Note: If you're not already using classes, adding them may require the help of an accountant to ensure they're implemented correctly.

Step 1: Enable Classes in QuickBooks

  1. In QuickBooks, go to Settings > Account and Settings.

  2. In the left menu, click Advanced.

  3. Click the Categories section to edit it and enable the Track classes toggle.

  4. Click the drop box and select either:

    1. One to entire transaction: Assign a single class to an invoice based on the branch or service type.

    2. One to each row in transactions: Assign a different class to each line item based on the line item's charge type.

Step 2: Update Lists in SmartMoving

  1. Select which QuickBooks account you need to update by selecting Manage.

3. Once viewing the desired QuickBooks account, select the settings icon.

4. From the slide-out screen, select Update Lists.

Step 3: Set Classes in SmartMoving

If you selected "One to each row in transactions" in QuickBooks

  1. Click the Job Mapping tab.

  2. Ensure that the QuickBooks items dropdown correctly matches the invoice line item. Then click the Class dropdown and select the correct QuickBooks class.

  3. Click the Storage Mapping tab and repeat the process to select the QuickBooks item and class.

If you selected "One to entire transaction" in QuickBooks,

From the settings screen slide-out, select whether you'll map by Branch or by Service Type.

By Branch,

  1. Click the Branch Settings tab.

  2. Click the Class dropdown to select the correct class for each branch.

By Service Type,

  1. Click the Service Type Mappings tab.

  2. Click the Class dropdown to select the correct class for each service type.
