Which type of document should I create?

SmartMoving supports multiple types of documents, including the following:

  • Storage Invoice Documents are used to generate printable PDFs from a storage invoice. It is recommended that you create and use only a single storage invoice template. If you create multiple, then multiple PDFs will be generated for your storage invoices.

  • An Opportunity Document will be added to an opportunity (AKA an estimate) exactly once. If you create a contract with its type set to Opportunity Document, there will be only a single contract for the entire opportunity, regardless of how many jobs or days are on the estimate.

  • Job Documents are added to each job within an opportunity. If an opportunity has multiple days, such as separate pack and move days, a Job Document will be added to each day.

Consider this example opportunity that has three days: a pack day, a load day, and a move day:

If you create an Opportunity Document, a single copy of the document will be shared amongst all three days. That means the crew will use the same document on the pack day, the load day, and the move day.

If you instead create a Job Document, a copy of the document will be created for each day. The pack day will have its own copy of the document, as will the load day and the move day.
