Overview
Connecting your Google Business Profile, Facebook Business Page, and Instagram Business account to SmartMoving unlocks public review management, listings updates, and social media publishing. You can connect all three platforms yourself from the Manage Accounts page. Instagram no longer requires a Customer Success handoff to connect.
Before You Begin
Make sure you have:
Admin access to the Google Business Profile, Facebook Business Page, or Instagram Business account you want to connect.
Login credentials for that platform.
Pop-ups enabled in your browser. Connection windows open in a new tab.
For Instagram specifically, you also need:
An Instagram Business account. Personal Instagram accounts cannot be connected.
The Instagram Business account linked to a Facebook Page that you manage.
If either Instagram requirement is missing, the connection cannot find your Instagram page. See Verifying Your Instagram Account Type and Converting a Personal Instagram Account below.
How To Do It
Step 1: Open Manage Accounts
The page lists every supported platform tile (Google, Facebook, Instagram) with its current connection status.
Step 2: Start the Connection
Find the platform tile you want to connect. The tile shows Not Connected with a Connect button.
Click Connect. A confirmation window opens that explains the prerequisites for the platform you selected.
Review the prerequisites, then click Continue to log in. A new browser window opens for the platform's login flow.
Step 3: Sign In and Grant Permissions
Sign in to the platform:
For Google, sign in with your Google Business Profile credentials.
For Facebook, sign in with your Facebook account.
For Instagram, sign in through the Facebook account that your Instagram Business account is linked to. Instagram uses the same Meta login flow as Facebook.
Grant SmartMoving permission to access the account when prompted. The permissions allow SmartMoving to:
Pull in public reviews and sync review responses.
Read and update business listings information.
Publish and manage social media content.
Choose the correct business or page from the list of associated accounts and click Add.
Step 4: Confirm the Connection
The login window closes and the Manage Accounts page refreshes.
Confirm the platform tile shows Connected with a green status dot and a Disconnect button. The connection is live.
Repeat the steps for any other platforms you want to link.
Disconnect a Connected Account
On the Manage Accounts page, find the platform tile you want to disconnect and click Disconnect.
Read the confirmation message in the dialog that appears. The Instagram message reads, "Are you sure you want to disconnect from Instagram? You won't be able to publish posts to Instagram from SmartMoving." [CONFIRM: exact disconnect copy for Google and Facebook tiles, since the equivalent strings were not located in the repository searched.]
Click Disconnect to confirm. The tile updates to Not Connected and a Connect button appears.
After disconnecting, the related features for that platform (review management, listings, or social publishing) are unavailable until you reconnect.
Verifying Your Instagram Account Type
Open the Instagram app and go to your profile.
Look below your bio for options like Insights, Promotions, or Ad Tools. If those options appear, your account is already a Business account and is ready to connect.
Converting a Personal Instagram Account to a Business Account
Open the Instagram app and tap the menu icon.
Tap Settings and Privacy.
Scroll down and tap Account Type and Tools.
Tap Switch to Professional Account and follow the prompts.
When asked about account type, choose Business.
Link the Business account to the Facebook Page you manage. The account is ready to connect to SmartMoving.
Key Capabilities After Connection
After connecting, users can:
View, respond to, and automate replies for public reviews in Smart Reputation.
Manage business listings across connected platforms.
Create, schedule, and publish social posts from the Socials module.
Key Details and Notes
Only business accounts are supported. Personal Google, Facebook, and Instagram accounts cannot be connected.
Instagram uses the same Meta login flow as Facebook. The Instagram connection runs through a Facebook login.
Instagram accounts are connected per branch and become available in the Socials module for that branch.
The previous workflow of contacting Customer Success to connect Instagram has been retired.
Best Practices
Use a Google, Facebook, or Instagram account with admin access. Limited-permission accounts can fail mid-flow and leave the tile in a partial state.
Connect Facebook before Instagram. The Instagram login runs through Facebook, so a working Facebook connection makes the Instagram step faster.
Disable pop-up blockers (or temporarily allow pop-ups) before clicking Connect. The platform login opens in a new window.
Connect Instagram per branch. Each branch has its own Manage Accounts tile, and the Instagram connection only enables Socials publishing for that branch.
Troubleshooting
The Connect button does nothing. Pop-ups are likely blocked. Allow pop-ups for SmartMoving and try again.
The platform login closes without connecting. You may have signed in with an account that does not have admin access to the business or page. Sign in to the platform directly to confirm your role, then retry.
Instagram connection cannot find your page. Confirm the Instagram account is set to Business and is linked to a Facebook Page you administer. See Verifying Your Instagram Account Type and Converting a Personal Instagram Account.
The tile shows an error after connecting. Click Update on the tile to re-authenticate, or Disconnect and connect again from a clean state.
