Overview
SmartMoving notifies users when a task is assigned to them so they can take timely action. Notifications apply to both auto-generated and manually assigned tasks and appear in the top notification (flag) menu.
This article explains how task assignment notifications work, what happens when you click a notification, and how new tasks are visually highlighted.
Before You Start
Before using task assignment notifications, make sure:
You have access to the Tasks module.
Tasks are being assigned to you, either automatically or manually.
How Task Assignment Notifications Work
When a Task Is Assigned
When a task is assigned to you:
A notification appears in the top flag notification menu.
The notification indicates that a new task has been assigned to you.
This applies to:
Auto-generated tasks (primary use case)
Manually assigned tasks
Note: If you assign a task to yourself, no notification is generated.
Viewing Assigned Tasks from the Notification
When you click the task assignment notification:
You are taken to the Tasks page.
All tasks assigned to you are displayed in the list.
Newly assigned tasks are visually highlighted.
How New Tasks Are Highlighted
Newly assigned tasks appear with a blue background in the task list.
The blue highlight remains visible for 10 seconds.
After 10 seconds, the highlight fades and the task appears normally.
This makes it easy to identify which tasks are new without permanently altering the list view.
Clearing the Notification
A task assignment notification is cleared when:
You navigate to the Tasks page, or
You view the list of all tasks assigned to you.
After this:
The notification count is cleared.
Clicking or hovering over the notification icon displays:
“No new notification.”
Best Practices
Check your task notifications regularly to ensure auto-generated tasks are not missed, especially those created from new leads or workflow activity.
Use task due dates and priorities to organize work after reviewing newly assigned tasks.
Troubleshooting
I didn’t receive a notification for a task
Confirm the task was assigned to you and not self-assigned.
Check that the task is associated with a workflow that generates assignments.
Verify you have access to the Tasks module.
I don’t see any tasks highlighted in blue
The highlight only appears for 10 seconds after the Tasks page loads.
Refreshing the page after that time will not reapply the highlight.
