Overview
Creating a commercial account is the first step in managing a business client in SmartMoving. The account captures the business entity's core information, assigns a representative, and sets up the initial contact. Once created, you can edit account details at any time from the account detail page.
Before You Start
Available to companies with Smart Pro.
You must have Accounts permission.
Make sure your admin has configured Account Statuses and Branches in Settings before you create your first account.
How to Create an Account
Click Accounts in the left sidebar.
Click + Add Account in the upper right corner.
Fill in the account details in the New Smart Account slideout:
Account Details Fields
Field | Required | Description |
Account Name | Yes | The business name (up to 250 characters) |
Business Address | No | The primary business address (up to 1,000 characters) |
Branch | Yes | Select the branch this account belongs to |
Status | Yes | Select the account status. Defaults to your configured default status. |
Account Representative | No | Select the team member responsible for this account |
Source | No | Select how this account was referred or sourced |
Contact Information
Every account requires at least one contact. The contact form appears below the account fields:

Contact Name | Yes | The contact person's full name |
Email Address | Yes | The contact's email address |
Phone Number | Yes | The contact's primary phone number |
Phone Type | Yes | The type of phone number: Mobile, Home, Work, or Other. Defaults to Mobile. |
Job Title | No | The contact's job title at the business |
Primary Contact | No | Check this box to designate this person as the primary contact for the account |
You can add additional phone numbers by clicking the option to add a secondary phone number.
Click Add Account to create the account.
A success message confirms the account has been created, and the accounts list refreshes.
đĄ SmartTip: After creating the account, click the account name in the list to open its detail page, where you can add departments, documents, additional contacts, and configure pricing.
How to Edit Account Details
Navigate to the account's detail page by clicking the account name in the accounts list.
On the Overview tab, locate the Account Info card on the left side of the page.
Click the Edit button on the Account Info card.
Update the fields you want to change in the slideout that appears.
Click Save to apply your changes.
The same fields available during account creation are editable here: Account Name, Business Address, Branch, Status, Account Representative, and Source.
Troubleshooting
The Add Account button is not visible. You may not have the Accounts permission enabled for your role. Contact your administrator to check your permissions in Settings > Permissions.
I don't see any options in the Status dropdown. Your administrator needs to configure account statuses in Settings > Commercial > Account Statuses before accounts can be created.
I don't see any options in the Branch dropdown. Your administrator needs to configure branches in company settings.
