Overview
The Storage Portal includes a Storage Requests screen where a customer can see every delivery and pickup request they have submitted in one place. Each request shows the type, status, destination, and items included, so the customer can track requests without contacting your office.
Before You Start
Available to your storage customers through the Storage Portal. Requires an account using SmartMoving Storage. If a customer does not see the View Storage Requests link in their portal, they should contact your office.
How To Do It
Access the Storage Requests Screen
The customer logs in to the Storage Portal.
The customer opens their storage account.
In the navigation bar near the top of the page, the customer clicks View Storage Requests (N), where N is the total number of requests on the account.
The Storage Requests screen opens and lists all the customer's submitted delivery and pickup requests.
After submitting a delivery or pickup request, the customer may be taken directly to this screen to see the request right away.
Understand the Requests Table
Each row in the table represents one request. The table includes the following columns:
Type: whether the request is a Delivery or Pickup.
Status: the current status of the request. Customers typically see Requested or Cancelled.
# of Items: the number of items included in the request. Clicking the number opens item details.
Preferred Date: the date and time the customer preferred for the delivery or pickup, if provided.
Requested On: the date the request was submitted.
Destination: the full address for the delivery or pickup.
Notes: a notes icon appears if notes were added to the request. Hovering over the icon shows them.
Any column except Notes can be sorted by clicking the column header.
Search and Filter Requests
To search, the customer clicks the Search requests field at the top of the screen and types any part of the destination address or the request notes. Matching requests appear as they type.
To filter by status, the customer clicks All Statuses and selects one or more statuses. To filter by type, the customer clicks All Types and selects Delivery, Pickup, or both. The list updates to show only matching requests.
Search and filters can be used together to narrow results. If no requests match, No storage requests found. appears.
View Items in a Request
In the # of Items column, the customer clicks the number on any request row.
The Items Requested panel opens.
The panel lists the items in the request. Each item shows:
A thumbnail photo (or a placeholder image if no photo is available)
Item name
Weight (lbs) and volume (cuft), if recorded
Description, if recorded
A damage indicator showing the number of recorded damages, if any
Key Details
If a request runs into a problem, it remains visible in the customer's list with the Requested status, and your office follows up to resolve it.
The Destination column shows the full delivery or pickup address.
If a request has zero items, the number in the # of Items column is not clickable.
Damage counts shown in the Items Requested panel match the damage counts recorded in the office system for the storage inventory.
Best Practices
Use the search bar to find a request by destination address or notes.
Use status filters to focus on open requests, such as those in a Requested status.
Click the number in the # of Items column to confirm the contents of a request.
Troubleshooting
The View Storage Requests link does not appear in the portal. Confirm storage requests are available for the customer's account.
A request the customer expects to see is missing. Clear the search bar and reset every filter. An active filter or search term may be hiding the request.
The # of Items number is not clickable. The request has zero items associated with it.
