Editing Additional Services and Materials Charges in the Crew App

Add, edit, remove, and clear Additional Services and Materials, Containers, and Packing charges in the SmartMoving Crew App. Each line is a card with quantity fields, rate, and total, and the running total stays pinned at the bottom.

Overview

The Additional Services screen and the Materials, Containers, and Packing and Unpacking screens in the SmartMoving Crew App let a crew member adjust the charges on a job to match what was actually done.

On each of these screens, every charge you add appears as its own card that shows the item or service name, the editable quantity fields, the per-item rate, and the line total.

The running total and the Cancel and Save changes buttons stay pinned at the bottom of the screen, so you can reach them no matter how many lines you add or how far you scroll.

Before You Start

Editing Additional Services and Materials charges in the Crew App applies to crew members who are assigned to the job.

When the job is in the estimate stage, each screen opens in a read-only view (for example, Estimated Services) that shows each charge as a card without editable controls.

Once the job is in progress, the screen switches to the actual view (for example, Added Services or Actual Materials) and the editable controls appear so you can record what actually happened on the job.

Adding an Additional Service in the Crew App

To add an additional service to the job, open the Additional Services screen in the Crew App and tap the service you want under the All Services list.

The service appears as a new card under Added Services, and the Services Total at the bottom of the screen updates to include it. Each added service shows its name at the top of the card, the editable fields in the middle, and the line Total at the bottom of the card.

How the fields appear depends on the type of additional service:

  • A flat-fee service shows a Qty field and a Rate. The line total equals the quantity times the rate.

  • A two-factor service shows a Qty field, a second factor field (for example, a per-unit count), and the Rate.

  • A percentage service shows the target it applies to and a percentage field. The line total equals that percentage of the target amount.

Editing Quantities and Values on an Additional Service in the Crew App

To change a value on an additional service, tap the Qty field, the second factor field, or the percentage field on that service's card and type the number directly using the on-screen numpad. The line Total for that card and the Services Total at the bottom of the screen update when you move off the field.

The Qty field accepts a whole number from 1 to 999. If you enter a value above 999, the Crew App sets the quantity to 999. If you clear the field or enter an invalid value, the Crew App sets the quantity back to 1, so the total never breaks. A percentage field recalculates the line total against its target amount as soon as you move off the field.

Note: The per-item Rate on an additional service is set by your tariff and is shown for reference. You cannot edit the rate from the Additional Services screen.

Editing Materials, Containers, and Packing Charges in the Crew App

The Materials and Containers screens work the same way as Additional Services. Tap an item under the All Materials or All Containers list to add it as a card, then tap the quantity field and type the amount using the numpad. Each materials line shows a quantity field, the per-item Rate, and the line Total.

The Packing and Unpacking screen shows two quantity fields on each card: a Packing quantity with its rate and an Unpacking quantity with its rate. The line Total adds the packing charge and the unpacking charge together. A materials, packing, or unpacking quantity can be 0 if that line does not apply, and accepts a whole number up to 999.

Removing a Charge Line in the Crew App

To remove a single service, material, container, or packing line from the job, tap the X (remove) control at the top right of that line's card. The card disappears and the running total at the bottom of the screen updates to drop that charge.

Clearing All Charges on a Screen in the Crew App

To remove every line on the screen at once, tap Clear All at the top of the added list. A confirmation titled Confirm clear appears with a message that names what will be removed, such as "Do you want to delete all additional services?" or "Do you want to delete all added materials?", and two buttons, Cancel and Delete. Tap Delete to remove all lines on that screen, or tap Cancel to keep them. The Clear All action only appears when at least one line has been added.

How Discounts Appear on a Charge Line in the Crew App

When a discount applies to an additional service line, that card shows the original line Total crossed out in dark gray, and the discounted total below it in blue. The blue amount is the price that applies to the job, so the discounted price stands out.

Best Practices

  • Confirm the quantity on each card matches what your crew actually used or performed before you tap Save changes, since the quantity drives the charge.

  • On the Packing and Unpacking screen, enter a packing quantity, an unpacking quantity, or both on every line you keep, then remove any line that does not apply.

  • Use Clear All only when you need to start a screen's list over, because it removes every added line at once.

  • Check the discounted blue total on any card that shows a crossed-out price, so you bill the correct discounted amount.

  • Scroll the added list to review every card. The running total and the Save changes button stay pinned at the bottom, so you can save without scrolling back up.

Troubleshooting

The Save changes button is disabled on the Packing and Unpacking screen. A packing or unpacking line needs a quantity in at least one field. The Crew App highlights the line and shows the hint "Each line needs a packing or unpacking quantity. Enter a value or remove the line." Enter a Packing or Unpacking quantity on that line, or tap the X control to remove the line, and the Save changes button becomes available.

The quantity I typed changed to 999 after I left the field. The quantity fields cap at 999. If you need more than 999 of an item, add the item again or contact your office to handle the charge another way.

The quantity went back to 1 after I cleared the field. A Qty field on an additional service must contain a valid whole number of at least 1. If you leave it empty or enter an invalid value, the Crew App resets it to 1 so the line total stays accurate. Materials, packing, and unpacking fields allow 0.

I do not see the quantity fields, the X control, or Clear All. These editable controls appear only when the job is in progress and the screen shows the actual view. Before the job starts, the screen shows a read-only estimated view with no editable controls.
