SmartMoving lets you add material costs to your estimate for any Pack By Owner or hourly pack jobs. You can also add materials as Carrier Pack when charging packing by the container.

Adding materials to an estimate

Navigate to the estimate page for an opportunity.

First, click Materials in the estimate panel.

Then, click the Add icon next to any material that you need to add.

Note: You can modify your list of materials by navigating to Settings -> Estimate
Lists -> Materials, or click here.

Next, configure the item’s details.

  • Type: Select “Item” for material pricing only. This is most common for Pack By Owner or hourly packing jobs. Select “Pack” for any Carrier Pack jobs (The pack rate should include both material and labor costs). Select “Unpack” to charge the cost of unpacking labor. If you will need to both pack and unpack an item, add the material twice—one for the cost of packing and one for the cost of unpacking.

  • Cost: If the link under cost is blue, the price of the material can be edited by your moving consultant. If the cost is black, it cannot be edited. Editing permissions are established in the Settings under Estimate Lists -> Materials.

  • Quantity: Select how many of the item is needed.

(Optional) If you need to remove an item, click the item menu and select Remove Materials, or click Clear All above the item list to remove all items.

Then, once you’ve added all the necessary items, click Save.
