Zones

Navigate to Settings -> Storage -> Zones, or click here to go directly to the page.

Zones are used to group your containers and oversized items into sections of your warehouse. This is particularly useful if your warehouse does not track by aisle, row, and shelf, as it helps you to organize by an area in your warehouse.

Typical zones include:

  • Floor

  • Rack

  • Oversized area

Adding zones

First, click Add Zone.

Then, enter the zone name, the warehouse the zone is inside of, and an optional description.

Then, click Create.

Container types

Navigate to Settings -> Storage -> Container Types, or click here to go directly to the page.

Container Types are the various types of containers that you have in your warehouse.

Adding container types

First, enter a name for the container type and an optional description.

Then, enter the length, width, and height. Once dimensions are added, SmartMoving will auto-calculate the volume.

Next, if the container has a maximum number of pounds that it can safely hold, enter the limit into the Weight Limit field.

Then, click Create.

Containers

The container settings area is where you can add/edit and remove any container you have in your warehouse. If you need to add any new containers purchased, remove or relocate any existing containers to another warehouse, this is where these actions can be performed.

Container locations can also be updated from your container settings page.

Editing containers

Navigate to Settings -> Storage -> Containers, or click here to go directly to the page.

If you imported containers, they will already be listed.

First, click the menu button next to the container you wish to modify and select Edit.

Then, update the container number, type, zone, or aisle/row/shelf as desired, and click Update.

Adding containers

If you need to add a large number of new containers, you can click Upload Containers to use the Excel template to upload all of the containers at once. Or you can use the following steps to upload them individually.

First, click Add Containers.

Next, enter the container number, type, and zone. If applicable, you can also add the aisle, row, and shelf.

Then, click Create.

Oversized items

This is a master list of oversized items that you can add to a storage account and charge an optional additional monthly fee. For example, if your company charges for motorcycles, canoes, or other large items that don't fit in a container, you can add this extra cost to the storage account and have that charged billed monthly along with any monthly container charges.

Note: On occasion, you'll encounter an oversized item that is not part of your master oversized item list. When this occurs SmartMoving gives you the option to add a custom item on the spot using the "custom" selection in your OS item list.

Adding a custom item will not require you to modify your master item list, rather you can type in the name of the OS item and edit the monthly cost for this item on the spot. Any custom item you add to an account will not get added to your master list.

Adding oversized items

Navigate to Settings -> Storage -> Oversized Items, or click here to go directly to the page.

First, click Add Oversized Items.

Then, enter the item name and monthly fee amount, and click Create.
