Configuring Pre-Authorization Timing

Learn how to set the time of day for automatic pre-authorization in SmartMoving. Pre-authorization always runs one day before the job date at the hour you select.

Overview

SmartMoving automatically pre-authorizes a customer's saved card one day before the job date. You can configure the specific hour of day for the attempt using a time-of-day dropdown in your pre-authorization settings.


Before You Start

Admin-level access is required to configure pre-authorization timing settings.


How To Configure Pre-Authorization Settings

  1. Go to Settings > Accounting & Profitability > Pre-authorization.

  2. Enable the Auto Pre-authorize toggle if not already on.

  3. Locate the Auto Pre-authorize Timing section.

  4. Use the dropdown to select the hour of day for the pre-authorization attempt.

The system will attempt pre-authorization at the selected time, one day before each job's scheduled date.

πŸ’‘ SmartTip: Choose a time earlier in the day so your team has time to follow up on any failed attempts before the job.

Note: Pre-authorization will not re-run if it has already been processed, captured, expired, or deleted. Check the opportunity's activity log or the Payments card on the opportunity to confirm the status of any attempt.
