Create and maintain the affiliate tags your company can assign to affiliates, all from one Settings page.

Before You Start

Before you manage affiliate tags, confirm the following:

  • Managing affiliate tags requires the admin role.

  • Affiliate tags are predefined here, then assigned to affiliates on the Affiliates page in the Smart Reputation module.

  • Your account can hold up to 10 affiliate tags.

  • An affiliate tag name can be up to 25 characters and must be unique within your account.

How to Open Affiliate Tag Settings

  1. Go to Settings > Smart Reputation > Affiliate Tags.

The Affiliate Tags page lists your existing affiliate tags. Each tag has a per-row actions menu with Edit and Delete.

How to Add an Affiliate Tag

  1. Go to Settings > Smart Reputation > Affiliate Tags.

  2. Select + Add Affiliate Tag

  3. Enter a tag name.

  4. Click Create.

The affiliate tag is added to the list and becomes available to assign to affiliates. The following rules apply when adding an affiliate tag:

  • The name can be up to 25 characters. The save action is disabled once you exceed 25 characters.

  • A blank name cannot be saved.

  • Duplicate names are not allowed within your account.

  • Once your account has 10 affiliate tags, + Add Affiliate Tag is disabled and shows a tooltip. Delete an affiliate tag to add another.

How to Rename an Affiliate Tag

  1. Go to Settings > Smart Reputation > Affiliate Tags.

  2. Open the actions menu on the affiliate tag's row.

  3. Select Edit.

  4. Enter the new name.

  5. Click Update.

The renamed affiliate tag updates everywhere it is assigned. The 25-character limit and the unique-name rule also apply when renaming.

How to Delete an Affiliate Tag

  1. Go to Settings > Smart Reputation > Affiliate Tags.

  2. Open the actions menu on the affiliate tag's row.

  3. Select Delete.

  4. Confirm the deletion in the warning prompt.

Deleting an affiliate tag does the following:

  • Removes the tag from your affiliate tag list.

  • Removes the tag from every affiliate it was assigned to. The affiliate records themselves are not deleted.

  • Frees a slot if you were at the 10-tag limit, so you can add a new affiliate tag.

Note: Removing an affiliate tag from affiliates cannot be undone. To restore the tag, recreate it and reassign it to each affiliate.

Best Practices

  • Create your affiliate tags before adding affiliates so the tags are ready to assign.

  • Use clear, consistent names such as Realtors, Senior Living, and Schools so filtering on the Affiliates page stays reliable.

  • Keep within the 10-tag limit by reusing broad categories rather than creating one tag per affiliate.

  • Rename rather than delete when a category changes, so existing affiliate assignments are kept.

FAQs

Why is the Add Affiliate Tag button disabled?

Your account has reached the limit of 10 affiliate tags. Delete an affiliate tag to free a slot, then add a new one.

Can I use the same affiliate tag name twice?

No. Affiliate tag names must be unique within your account. The slideout will not save a duplicate name.

What happens to my affiliates when I delete an affiliate tag?

The tag is removed from every affiliate it was assigned to. The affiliate records remain, and no other affiliate data changes.

Where do I assign affiliate tags to affiliates?

You assign affiliate tags on the affiliate record on the Affiliates page in the Marketing module, not on the Affiliate Tags settings page.

How long can an affiliate tag name be?

An affiliate tag name can be up to 25 characters. The save action is disabled once the name exceeds 25 characters.
