How to estimate packing costs by the shipments cwt

To quote packing costs for a customer, you can charge either

When quoting by the cwt, you're estimating the packing costs based on how much the total shipment weighs. This option is most common for long distance shipments.

Quote packing by cwt

  1. Open an opportunity and click the Estimate tab.

  2. Click the Calculation settings and choose how to calculate the move's volume and weight. Note: For help with these options, view the Determine a move's volume and weight article.

  3. In the Charges section, click Add Charge.

  4. Click Packing, then select By Cwt.

  5. Select the rate (for example, full pack, half pack, etc.).

  6. The weight and Price per CWT update automatically.

    Note: The Price per CWT includes the cost of labor and materials.

  7. Enter the number of trucks and packers required for the packing job.

    Note: These numbers don't affect the price. They are strictly helpful for dispatch.

  8. Add any applicable discounts.

  9. Click Add New.
