Search Capabilities

Learn how to utilize the different search capabilities in SmartMoving to quickly locate leads, opportunities, customers, and storage accounts.

​Overview

SmartMoving provides multiple search options throughout the platform to help you quickly find the information you need. Depending on what you are looking for, such as a lead, opportunity, customer, or storage account, different search tools may be more effective.

Understanding where and how each search function works will ensure you are using the right search capability for your task.


Universal Search

Universal Search allows you to locate leads, opportunities, and storage accounts from anywhere in SmartMoving. The Universal Search bar is located in the top-right corner of the application, making it accessible from any screen.

What You Can Search For

Using Universal Search, you can search by:

  • Job number

  • Phone number

  • Email address

  • Partial customer name

  • Lot number

  • Storage account number

  • Container number (for storage)

How Universal Search Works

  • When searching by job number, phone number, email address, or lot number, the search returns exact matches only.

  • When searching by partial name, the search returns results that contain the characters entered, in the order typed.

  • Universal Search returns up to the 10 most recent matches, based on the most recent interaction date.


Searching by Lot Number

Universal Search includes a Lot # search option, allowing you to quickly locate Moving opportunities or Storage accounts associated with a specific lot number.

How to Search by Lot Number

  1. Click into the Universal Search field.

  2. Select “Lot #” from the search dropdown.

  3. Enter a single lot number.

  4. Review the returned result.

Lot Number Search Results

The results returned depend on the tab you are searching from:

Moving Tab

  • If the lot number matches descriptive inventory on an opportunity (available for beta DI customers), the search will return the job associated with that lot number.

Storage Tab

  • If the lot number matches a storage account, the search will return the storage account associated with that lot number.

Important Notes

  • Lot number searches return exact matches only.

    • Partial lot numbers will not return results, results will only populate after the full lot number is entered.

  • You can only search one lot number at a time.

  • Search results only return data from the company you are currently logged into.

  • Dates displayed in search results follow the standard SmartMoving date format.


Searching for Storage Accounts

When searching specifically for a storage account using Universal Search, you can search by:

  • Storage account number

  • Phone number

  • Email address

  • Partial customer name

  • Container number

  • Lot number

You also have the option to search by container number instead of by the customer.


Search Customers

From the Customer Module, you can search for customers who have an opportunity in SmartMoving. Customers include opportunities that are booked, completed, lost, canceled, or closed.

Customer Search Rules

  • Only opportunities appear in the Customer Module.

  • Leads do not appear until they have been converted into opportunities.

  • Searches return matches that contain the letters you have typed, in the order entered.

If you cannot find a customer from the Customer Module, try using Universal Search instead. The customer may still be in lead status.


Search in Accounting

From the Accounting Module, you can search for jobs that are:

  • Pending finalization

  • Pending close

  • Closed

  • All jobs

You can search using:

  • Job number

  • Partial customer name

  • Phone number

  • Email address

This allows you to quickly locate jobs related to billing and financial activity.
