Crew members with the Can manage descriptive inventories permission can void items in the Crew App. Voiding an item removes it from active responsibility while keeping a complete, visible audit trail across the Crew App, Inventory Report, and Inventory Sheet. Voided items remain visible but are excluded from item totals.
When to Void an Item
Void an item when it no longer needs to be included in the move. Common examples include:
The customer decides to transport the item themselves
The item is no longer part of the shipment
The item was entered in error
Voiding ensures the item is clearly marked and accounted for without deleting it from the record.
How to Void an Item in the Crew App
Navigate to Inventory in the Crew App.
Open the item’s menu using the three-dot icon.
Select Void Item.
(Optional) Enter a reason for voiding the item.
The popup allows free-text notes explaining why the item was voided.
This note displays in the Inventory Report and Inventory Sheet.
Tap Void Item to confirm.
After voiding, the item remains visible, displays a Voided label, and is removed from the item count at the top of the list.
How to Restore (Unvoid) an Item
Voiding is fully reversible.
Select the voided item from the list.
Open the item menu using the three-dot icon.
Select Restore Item.
Confirm the restore action.
The item returns to active status and is added back into the item totals.
How Voided Items Appear Across SmartMoving
In the Crew App
Voided items remain visible with the Voided tag.
They are not counted in item totals.
Voided items still display existing damage symbols, packing type, and any notes.
In the Inventory Sheet (PDF)
Images show that the PDF includes:
Item name with “(Voided)” appended
The void reason included in the Articles column
The remaining condition symbols, exceptions, and locations still printed
In the Inventory Report (Office → Accounting)
Voided items appear with an orange VOID tag.
Hovering over the tag displays the void reason (e.g., “Customer changed their mind”).
The item remains listed with packing type and exceptions.
In Activity Log
All actions appear in the job’s Activity panel.
Examples from screenshots include:
Item Medium Box was voided… A reason for the void was not provided.
Item Dining Table was voided… because Customer changed their mind.
Item Medium Box was restored to the descriptive inventory…
This log maintains a complete audit trail.
