How to Grant Mobile Crew Application Access

Learn how to grant a crew member access to the SmartMoving Crew App, including enabling app access, setting login credentials, and sending a welcome email.

Overview

The SmartMoving Crew App allows crew members to manage jobs directly from their smartphone or tablet. The application is available for download from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.

Company admins can grant Crew App access to individual crew members from the settings module.

This article explains how to enable Crew App access for a specific crew member.


Before You Start

Before granting access, confirm that:

  • The crew member already exists in SmartMoving

  • You have permission to manage crew members

  • Your company has available Crew App licenses

Note: Crew App access requires an available application license. Licenses can be reviewed and managed from Settings → Company Settings → User Application Licenses.


How To Do It

Step 1: Navigate to Crew Members

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Select Dispatch

  3. Click Crew Members

Step 2: Select a Crew Member

  • Click the crew member you want to grant access to

  • SmartTip: This is commonly enabled for crew foremen or leads

Step 3: Enable Crew App Access

  1. Locate Allow user to use the Crew application

  2. Toggle the switch on

Note:
The toggle appears green when enabled. If the toggle is disabled, your company may be out of available User App licenses.

Step 4: Enter Login Details

Provide the following information:

  • Email
    Used as the crew member’s login. Must be unique and not shared with another user.

  • Auto Generate Password

    • Checked: SmartMoving generates a password and emails it to the user

    • Unchecked: You can enter a custom password

  • Send Welcome Email
    Sends setup instructions, login credentials, and a training video to the crew member

Step 5: Save Changes

Click Save to grant Crew App access and send any selected emails.

Important Notes

  • Crew members must be assigned to a job in Dispatch for jobs to appear in the Crew App

  • Jobs must be published to be visible in the app


Additional License Management Options

Another way to manage user app access is through the User Application Licenses page. This page is especially helpful if you need to review license availability or update access for multiple users at once.
