Adding and Managing Jobs in Projects

Learn how to create jobs within a commercial project in SmartMoving and navigate the job details page.

Overview

Jobs are the individual moves or service events within a project. Each job tracks scheduling details, crew requirements, charges, and accounting information. You create and manage jobs from the project detail page.


Before You Start

  • Available to companies with Smart Pro.

  • You must have Accounts permission.

  • The project must already be created within an account.


How to Add a Job to a Project

  1. Open the project detail page.

  2. On the Overview tab, locate the Jobs card.

  3. Click Add Job.

  4. Complete the form in the slideout:

Contact Assignment

Select a Contact Type:

  • Project Contact: Choose from contacts already assigned to the project.

  • New Contact: Enter a new contact's information directly.

Click Create Job to save.


Navigating the Job Details Page

Click a job name in the project's jobs table to open the job detail page.

Job Header

The header displays:

  • A breadcrumb link back to the project

  • The service type and job number (for example, "Local Move - JOB-001")

  • Status and confirmation badges

  • The job start date

  • Book or Unbook buttons (depending on the current job status)

Job Sub-Pages

The job detail page has two main views, accessible through the navigation tabs:

Overview The default view with a two-column layout:

  • Left column: Scheduling Details, Stops, Charges, and Job Notes sections

  • Right sidebar: Job Information card, Contacts, Tasks, Survey, and Inventory summaries

Accounting The billing and financial view:

  • Left column: Accounting job details

  • Right sidebar: Job Information card, Job Total, and Weights


Understanding the Job Information Card

The Job Information card appears in the sidebar on both sub-pages and displays:

Field

Description

Job Number

The auto-assigned job number within the project

Service Type

The type of moving service

Status

The current job status

Branch

The branch handling the job

Estimated Total

The estimated cost (with a "Re-rate" option if pricing is outdated)

Hourly Rate

The applicable hourly rate

The card footer includes links to view Versions, Activity, and Docs for the job.
