Overview
SmartMoving lets you flag storage inventory items as Oversized directly from the inventory tab of a storage account. Marking an item as Oversized makes it easier to track items that need special handling or additional monthly fees. You can mark or unmark items individually or in bulk from both list view and gallery view.
Before You Start
Available to accounts using SmartMoving Storage.
Anyone with access to the storage module can mark items as Oversized. If you don't see this option, contact SmartMoving Support.
Users with storage settings access (typically admins see extra options when marking items, such as choosing between an existing Oversized item type and creating a new one.
To set up Oversized item types in advance, go to Settings > Storage > Oversized Items. See Setting Up Zones, Containers, Container Types, and Oversized Items for details.
Marking an Item as Oversized
Open a storage account and select the Inventory tab.
Locate the item in list view or gallery view.
Open the item's kebab menu (the three-dot icon) and select Mark as Oversized.
A prompt appears based on your Oversized settings:
If the item type does not exist in your Oversized settings, you are prompted to add it. Adding it is optional. The item is marked as Oversized regardless of your choice.
If the item type already exists and you have storage settings access, choose Use Existing Entry or Create New.
If you do not have storage settings access, you will not see the entry options. The item is still marked as Oversized.
If a duplicate Oversized item type is detected, a warning appears. You can proceed or cancel.
The item is marked as Oversized.
An activity log entry reading "{Item name} marked as an oversized item." is recorded automatically.
Marking Multiple Items at Once
In the Inventory tab, select multiple items using the bulk selection checkboxes.
Select Mark as Oversized from the bulk action menu.
Note: If any selected item is already marked as Oversized, the Mark as Oversized button is disabled. Deselect any already-marked items to proceed.
Unmarking an Item
To remove the Oversized designation from a single item, open its kebab menu and select Unmark as Oversized.
To unmark multiple items at once, use the bulk selection checkboxes and select the unmark option from the bulk action menu.
Best Practices
When marking an item as Oversized, you can skip adding the item type to your Oversized settings. The item is still flagged as Oversized. If you want the item type tracked for future charges, add it to your Oversized settings during this step.
Both list view and gallery view support the Mark as Oversized action. Use whichever view you prefer.
Set up your Oversized item types in Storage Settings ahead of time so the monthly fee is ready to apply when you mark an item.
