Every payment on a job runs through the Payments card on the opportunity. This article covers where that card is, what each tab holds, and how to take a payment, then points you to the guide for whichever payment type you need.
Before You Start
Available to accounts that take card payments through Remedy Payments.
Changing payment settings requires an admin role. Taking a payment does not.
The Payments card appears on the opportunity's Estimate page and Accounting page. Both show the same card.
If card processing is not set up for your account, selecting the Cards tab opens a prompt to book a call with Remedy Payments instead of your saved cards. The E-Check tab behaves the same way when E-Check is not set up.
What Each Tab Holds
Tab | What you use it for |
Transactions | Every payment on the opportunity: captured, pending, refunded, and pre-authorization records. |
Cards | The credit and debit cards saved to the customer, which card is the default, and which card pre-authorization uses. |
E-Check | Whether a backup credit card is required when the customer pays by E-Check. |
A count beside Cards or E-Check tells you how many are saved.
How To Take a Payment
Open the opportunity and go to the Estimate or Accounting page.
In the Payments card, click + Payment.
Select Take Payment.
Select the payment method.
Enter the amount and complete the details the method asks for.
Confirm the payment.
The payment appears in the Transactions tab. Before any payment is taken, that tab reads No Payments Added.
Each payment method has its own steps once you reach step 4. Use the guides below.
Key Details
Cards are saved to the customer, so a card saved on one opportunity is available on that customer's other opportunities.
To place a hold on a card instead of taking a payment, use Pre-authorize Payment in the same + Payment menu.
Pre-authorization is included with your Remedy Payments account and is activated by the Remedy Payments team. If you do not see it, book a pre-authorization call to get set up.
Refunds and adjustments are made from the payment's own actions in the Transactions tab.
Getting Payment Features Turned On
The Remedy Payments team sets up each payment feature for your account and walks you through the options.
To take credit and debit card payments, book a card plan discussion with Remedy Payments.
To take E-Check payments, book an E-Check plan discussion with Remedy Payments.
To use pre-authorization, which is included with your Remedy Payments account, book a pre-authorization call.

Troubleshooting
The Cards tab shows a prompt to book a call instead of my saved cards.
Card processing is not set up for your account. Selecting the tab opens a prompt to book a call with Remedy Payments, who turn it on. You can also book a card plan discussion directly.
The E-Check tab shows a prompt to book a call.
E-Check is not set up for that branch. E-Check is set up per branch, so a branch without it does not offer E-Check even when another branch does. Book an E-Check plan discussion with Remedy Payments to get it turned on.
I do not see a Pre-authorize Payment option.
Pre-authorization is activated for your account by the Remedy Payments team. It is included with your Remedy Payments account, so book a pre-authorization call to get set up.
The payment I took is not in the Transactions tab.
Check that the payment was submitted rather than left mid-form, and reload the page. A pre-authorization is a hold rather than a payment, and it lists in the same tab with its own badge.
